Biography.

Aaron McGarry is a multidisciplinary Australian artist who completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Sculpture) at the National Art School, Sydney, in 2021. His work has been exhibited nationally, including at the National Portrait Gallery, ArtSpace on the Concourse, the National Art School, and Blacktown Arts Centre.

McGarry has created public artworks for councils such as Inner West, Georges River, Willoughby City (NSW), and Moreland (VIC), and has received multiple awards, including the James Ballaam Elsley Memorial Prize for Excellence in Drawing (2021) and the People’s Choice Award at Art on the Greenway (2019).

His recent work focuses on community engagement, delivering creative workshops exploring mental health and wellbeing, and curating exhibitions for Inner West and Georges River councils.

In 2024, McGarry was the Lake House Artist in Residence (Lake Macquarie) and a Converge Artist in Residence (Lismore). His recent projects include exhibiting video work for Bathurst Regional Art Gallery’s OUT there program and leading a Healthy Art and Ageing program for Lismore Regional Gallery.
